Siovation Completes Construction of New Hygienic Manufacturing Plant for Food and Cosmetic Grade Products

Lawrenceville, GA  -  March 18, 2011

Siovation, LLC is pleased to announce that we recently commissioned a new food and cosmetic grade manufacturing plant within our Lawrenceville, Georgia operation. This strategic investment was made as part of our ongoing focus on the personal care, food processing and food packaging industries, and our general commitment to continuous improvement within our operations. The facility will add approximately 500 tons per year to our capacity.

Most of the products produced in this facility are water-based. From a quality perspective, the entire plant was designed with a high level of concern for hygiene. Features include food/cosmetic grade stainless steel materials of construction, sealed floor, wash-down compatible surfaces throughout, physical separation from non-hygienic operations, air filtration and a comprehensive microorganism monitoring and control plan. We have taken an additional important step to demonstrate our commitment to hygienic design and operation by engaging NSF – Cook & Thurber to conduct an audit of our new facility against “Product Safety, Quality and Defense Expectations and Criteria for Manufacturing Facilities of Food Contact Packaging Materials and Food-Related Items”. This commitment includes adherence to 21 CFR Part 110, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Pre-audit activities are well underway and we expect to successfully pass a formal NSF – Cook & Thurber audit in 2011.

From a technology perspective, we have significantly enhanced our ability to handle a wider range of silicone-based products, particularly for personal care applications, including very high viscosity materials (> 500,000 cps), very high solids emulsions (> 80%) and flammable materials.
